About a week and a half ago, I went to Joshua Tree National Park to photograph the night sky. It was a great experience. I camped in my car for three days to be able to shoot the sky at night. During the hot days, I would scout out possible shooting locations, mostly trying to take it easy so I could stay awake throughout the night and maximize shooting time. Because of the holiday traffic, I didn't make it to the park before nightfall. Admittedly, it wasn't the best way to start this adventure. I would've ideally liked to have set up before darkness approached and kept shooting into the early morning hours. The first night I also didn't get the clearest of skies, so I decided to take it light, do only a few shots, and get a good night's rest because I'd been driving for several hours. Over the next few days, I was much better prepared and scouted my locations, setting up well before daylight faded away. I captured one image in particular the first night that I wanted to share with you because it felt like a good opening to my "star-filled weekend." I plan to write more this week about my nighttime ventures and share some things I learned.  Joshua Tree
