Photos from 2 short weekend/overnight photo outings in Joshua Tree. On the first weekend trip I was leaving on a Saturday at midmorning making the drive from San Diego in 3 1/2 hours, arriving just in time for a late afternoon and sunset shoot. As my friend and I are setting up our tent, a layer of clouds rolled in, defusing the still strong sunlight and making for perfect conditions to get some nice photographs of the trees and plants before sunset. I intended to shoot the night sky because Joshua Tree has still very dark areas with little light pollution. Unfortunately, a very strong wind started to develop and there was absolutely no way to do very long exposures. This meant  I would have to come back another time to shoot the night sky. The sunset was spectacular with vivid bright colors. The next day developed into a grey overcast day, but with many clouds in the sky which brought an interesting element to the shoot. The second trip was 3 weeks later and it was a very sunny weekend with clear skies and a full moon. Totally different conditions to photograph in.
